I'm a mum of two boys.  
Because of this, I get them more than I get girls.  
I get that they are constantly on the move, and their attention span is minuscule, they love to get dirty, to dig, to explore.  
I also get that they also love their mum.  They might drive her mad, but they love her to bits and hopefully when mum sees these photos she will forget the hard times and her heart will melt for just a teeny moment :)

A family photo session doesn't need to be formal and posed.  It can be a simple Monday afternoon at the beach.  That is what this was.  We splashed, we explored caves, we jumped, we cuddled.  

This was this family, on Pt Chev beach, in November.  Love them.

This family were all into having their photos taken!  It wasn't a new experience for them which did
make it easier as they were comfortable with a camera around them and happily let me lead them
around the park as we found gorgeous pockets of light, had some cuddles and laughs and most
​importantly exercised the furry family member :)

Why not have an afternoon at the park on a Friday?
Why not have a run around with friends? 
Why not build a fort from random sticks an branches you find together?
Why not stay just that little bit longer than you wanted?
Why not smile more?

Sometimes it is good as a parent to say "yes" more.  The kids are happier and, often that means that
​so is mum.  
Try it sometime.

So this little guy turned one.  

He was so calm on his birthday party, surrounded by so many of his family and loved ones.

Like most one-year-olds, opening presents was not something that he quite understood what to do, so needed some help from dad - but this guy was spoilt!  A fabulous range of gifts - toys, ride on
cars, new threads, paddling pool, even his own giraffe couch!

His parents had organised a cake smash for him and it all prepared.  We had a huge sheet of white
tarp on the carpet and his own special cake that he could rip in to.  Mum had even found him an
awesome little outfit just for the "smashing".  But of course for about the past 6 months, Mr B has
been told not to make a mess of food, and with about 15+ grown ups watching, he obeyed what
mum and dad has taught him and calmly observed his own cake.  Inspecting with his eyes first, and
then very gently, very slowly with his fingers (and toes!).  It took a solid 30 minutes (and some
​persuasion from mum and dad) to get into the cake.  

While it wasn't an annihilation, this guy did the smash his way.  Why?  
Because he could.  
It was HIS birthday.  
It's his rules.

This family of three were so great for me on the afternoon of their shoot.  They were relaxed and really helped me to deliver some fantastic photos for them. 
This father and son reinforced the power of genetics as in many instances their facial expressions were the same and I felt like I was seeing double when I was looking through the lens!
This 10-month old is a fun, relaxed dude who adores his dad but loves his mum's cuddles and love. 

What a wonderful gift this family were given.

The grandparents bought them a session with me as a present.  They wanted photos that captured
them as a family, having fun on the slides and swings, watching birds and having plenty of giggles. 
They found me through a recommendation from a friend who I had taken photos of previously and
after delivering their photos to them I bumped into the Mum who thanked me for capturing photos
​that have feeling and soul.  She said when she looks at the photo of her son hugging her, she can feel the hug through the photo.  That made my heart glow and the reason that I do what I do and love the result!  Thanks guys, it was a pleasure! xx

I met this family one Sunday and we just hung out.  We talked, we laughed, we shared secrets, we admired the city view.  I had fun :)

This busy family includes two boys and a girl and we had a great little time playing in the park one afternoon.  The boys were very well behaved for the camera and after some cuddles and songs from mum, the youngest brought out her smile.

She is one of my best friends.
She is loving.
She is considerate.
She is tough.
She is soft.
She is a great mum to their energetic boys.
She is looking fantastic.
